Birmingham City Council
Marketing Birmingham spent a considerable amount of money developing a new identity to move forward with their strategic plans to promote Birmingham in business to business and business to consumer markets.
As part of the launch they wanted to create a PR stunt to achieve both regional and UK wide exposure to heighten the profile of Marketing Birmingham and the work they do for the city.
We came up with the idea of recreating the new identity in both its purest logo form and also to develop a 'British' version incorporating the Union Jack.
Using Birmingham City Council contacts we engaged the help of approximately 1,000 schoolchildren to reveal the logo's - using Aston Villa Football Club stadium as the venue for the launch with journalists/photographers invited to fly over the city and stadium to take pictures of the launch below. This was both a logistical challenge and a motivational one, trying to get 1,000 schoolchildren to do exactly what we needed for the big reveal whilst journalists flew overhead.
The results were fantastic achieving both regional and national coverage and helping Marketing Birmingham to be seen as innovative and essential in the future success of the city. |
